Two upcoming film festivals offer an array of exciting entertainment:
Looking for something to do with your kids this weekend? Time Out has some excellent suggestions:
Add-on the Ghostbusters Experience: “a multi-layered and sensory environment immersing you into a fantastical and spirited world, inspired by the 2016 film. From the eerie underground tracks of the NYC subway to the basement of a haunted mansion to Ghostbusters Headquarters to the streets of Times Square, brace yourself for several spooks and even catch a ride on Ecto-2.”
“Science Inspires Art: Food” at the NY Hall of Science is a juried exhibition of food-inspired art. “Artists from around the globe tackle themes that include the history of food, “haute-cuisine,” its links to social issues”. But it’s not all serious, of course – food can also be interesting physical material for making or inspiring art.
“Mission to Space” at Children’s Museum of the Arts, is “an exhibition about the mysteries of outer space and how it continues to challenge our imaginations” which features “sculptures, paintings, photographs, videos and installations… from famed visual artists like Thomas Broadbent, E.V Day, Masayoshi Sukita and Penelope Umbrico.”
With “Behind The Screen” at The Museum of the Moving Image: “guests can immerse themselves in the process of producing, promoting and presenting digital entertainment, TV shows and movies.” And: See historic movie memorabilia!
(The Museum also has “Arcade Classics: Video Games from the Collection” – More than 30 video arcade games released between 1971 and 1993, that you can play!)
