DanceAfrica, presented by BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) runs until July 7th.
This is the virtual version of their annual celebration of the cultural vitality of Africa and its diaspora through dance, art, film, and an outdoor bazaar.
“This year, we celebrate DanceAfrica with a series of digital offerings, paying special tribute to the incredible people who have shaped this festival over its rich 42-year history. Join us for online dance classes, streams of past performances, interviews with members of the Council of Elders, a virtual bazaar, and other programs that bring the joy of DanceAfrica into your home.”
It includes FilmAfrica, a partnership with African Film Festival, Inc. to present a selection of modern African cinema classics, with proceeds supporting African Film Festival, Inc., and BAM during the temporary closure.
May 21st films only run until today (June 18th), but all the May 28th selections (except “I Am Not a Witch”) will continue to be available.
