Joyce Gold – When New York was Dutch (Thursday, October 17, 2019)
Join us for an in depth look at New York City’s earliest years. Joyce Gold, one of Manhattan’s most engaging tour guides will *walk* us through the history of our city – the company that put down the first roots, the people who came and lived here and the people who were already here when the settlers arrived.
The Dutch settlement lasted just 40 years, from 1624 to 1664. Yet these commercial origins have had an enduring influence as the city became one of the greatest business centers in the world.
Joyce received a B.A. in English literature from Queens College and an M.A. in Metropolitan Studies at New York University, and was described by The New York Times as, “the doyenne of city tour guides”.
Diamonds and Pearls Roadshow (Tuesday, October 29, 2019)
Wondering if that bracelet great-aunt Julie loved and bequeathed to you is costume jewelry or real?
Now is your chance to find out!
Representatives from the Diamond District Partnership and 47th Street Business Improvement District will give a presentation about diamonds and pearls. Followed by an Antiques Roadshow-style opportunity to have your jewelry appraised.
The Lewis Davis Pavilion is located here at Waterside (25 Waterside Plaza).
We look forward to seeing you!
