Celebrate Africa on Film and Beyond – on Governors Island

This Saturday (September 14th), take a day trip over to Governors Island to experience a Family Day celebrating Africa and the diaspora!

The AFF (African Film Festival, Inc. is dedicated to advancing an enhanced understanding of African culture through the moving image.

And this event, in its 12th year, has a full day of free and fun activities including short films, storytelling, arts and crafts, as well as dance and drum workshops led by world-renowned instructors.

While there, you can also take in other activities on the Island including “Shandaken Projects presents Seed Book by Alicia Grullón and Salacia by Tourmaline” and “The Poetry Society of America presents CantoMundo Poets

From Waterside, take the nearby ferry over (Lower East Side and Governors Island or Soundview and Governors Island)!
