December at the Community Center: Gift Wrapping, Holiday Puppet Show…

It’s cold outside but it’s always warm in the Community Center, where Watersiders gather every week to hang out with their neighbors. This month’s events in particular celebrates togetherness as the holidays draw closer. The Community Center is located on the A Level in Building 40, and is open Monday-Friday, 10AM-5PM.

Kid’s Story Time and Puppet Show: Thursday, December 18th, 3 – 4PM

All children and their parents / nannies / grandparents are invited to gather in the Community Center where they will be read classic children’s holiday stories. Story Time will be followed by an interactive puppet show, where the kids are asked to participate. Children will be provided juice boxes and light snacks. The Community Center is located on the A Level in Building 40, and is open Monday-Friday, 10AM-5PM.

Gift Wrapping Party: Monday, December 22nd, 2 – 4PM

Watersiders are invited to bring in their presents that they have bought for loved ones to the Community Center, which will provide wrapping paper, scissors, tape, etc. Residents are invited to share who their presents are for and what significance they carry, and are invited to share their stories from holidays past.

I think we can all agree: November is a drab month. Halloween is behind you and the holidays feel a long ways off. The best cure we know for cold, gray days? Plenty of cozy indoor time with friends, food, and fun. Following on the success of the Community Center’s October events, we’re pleased to invite you to chase away the November blues with some good times with your neighbors at our Community Center’s November Events. Located on the A Level in Building 40, the Community Center is open Monday-Friday, 10AM-4PM, and all are welcome!

Children’s Arts & Crafts

Fridays at 2PM: November 7, 14, 21: As anybody who has spent time with toddlers knows, kids are just bundles of creativity waiting to be unleashed. Help spark their imagination with our Arts & Crafts hour.

Name That Tune

Mondays at 1:30PM: November 10 & 24. A true classic! You know the drill: we’ll play a tune, you guess the name of that song. Guess the most song names and you win!

Movie Trivia Challenge

Thursdays at 2PM: November 6, 13 & 20: So you think you know the moving pictures? Come test your cinema knowledge at our Movie Trivia Challange. Every week, the winning film guru takes home a prize!

October Events at the Waterside Community Center

Waterside has always prided itself on being a peaceful enclave in a busy city. You could call our Community Center an enclave within an enclave. Located on the A Level in Building 40, the Community Center is open Monday-Friday, 10AM-4PM, and all residents are invited to stop by, and have a snack and a chat with your neighbors. This fall, Community Center Manager, Cynthia Lopez, has organized an array of activities to celebrate our community and history. Learn about the Community Center’s October events below and feel free to join in at any time!

October 6-10: Family Photo Week

The Community Center wants to decorate its walls with the memories that are important to you. This week’s theme is Family. Supply Cynthia Lopez (clopez@americanleisure.com) with up to 12 photos of your family–children, grandchildren, siblings, any and all loved ones. The Center will post them for the week and then return them. The other themes for this month are Scenic Photos (October 20-24) and Vacation Photos (October 27-31).

Oct 8, 15, 22 & 29: Children’s Story Time Hour

Join the Community Center for Children’s Story Time on Wednesdays at 2PM. Participants will tell stories, sing songs, and put on other performances for community kids.This event is perfect for children ages 16 months to 4 years. The Center will provide various books to read to the children.

October 13-17: Recipe Exchange Week

The Center invites all residents to share an old recipe you’ve always enjoyed and take with you a brand new one to try out. There will be some fall recipes on-hand, and Center Management may organize some favorite recipes to be prepared by the Cafe for a follow-up event.
