Your kids may be clamoring for a snow day – and while this event doesn’t take them out of school, it should give them some of what they’re craving
From 10AM to 1PM you can help your community keep this wonderful park flourishing,
What else is happening there?
- Wild native wonderberry tastings;
- Free Heliopsis helianthoides plants to dig and take;
- Fairy house building in the children’s garden.
We hope you enjoy the day!

Tomorrow (August 18th) is their Community Volunteer Day (at 10:00am)
There are many activities for all ages! Make a fairy house, take out weeds, sweep the Esplanade, and learn more about plants, animals and fungi in the area!
(In Stuyvesant Cove Park.)
Tuesday, August 28th at 10:00 am, spare a few hours if you can: Addressing and stuffing envelopes, and enjoying coffee and snacks with your friends at Solar One! They could use your assistance getting their Oktoberfest invitations in the mail. (The night celebrates Solar One programs and a Sustainable New York City.)
If you can help out, please send your full name and email address to Deana Hare at deana @ solar1.org.
Activities are from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Saturday, May 12, 2018), and include:
A child-led exploration of living soils and resident invertebrates in our children’s garden.
Use plant stems and twine to create habitats for some of the 400 species of bees native to Manhattan.
A hands on lesson in the Lower East Side’s cultural heritage of environmental art and activism.
And a Native Seed and Plant Exchange and Sale.
