On the East River Ferry: Just 2 Weekends Left of Family Fun on Governors Island!

Last year, we recommended you explore Governors Island before it closed for the year.

With just 2 weekends before that time again, we, via our On the East River Ferry series, want to make sure you catch some of the Island’s great happenings.

Just hop on the E. 34th St. East River Ferry right next to Waterside Plaza, and try events and exhibitions you can enjoy with your kids:

Governors Island Art Fair

Now in its 9th year, this fair “draws visitors into its world of expression, abstraction and narrative, with 100 solo exhibitions of painting, photography, sculpture, installation, sound and video art side-by-side throughout the sprawling lawns and historic houses of Colonels Row.”

House 7A: A Haunted Encounter

A free immersive haunted house experience where “small groups will be invited in to explore 2 stories of the house to discover its dark history, and piece together the events that led to the 1989 disappearance of previous tenants, the Crowe Family.”

A play space, modeled after a junkyard, where kids can “imagine a world of their own making and  shape their environment using an assortment of materials, tools, water, dirt, and things that others might describe as trash.”
