We’re all about oysters (literally–the riverbank Waterside stands was once a huge oyster bed!) so we’re pretty happy New York Oyster Week 2015 opens today, September 10-27. We’re especially happy that 3 of the 4 elite-grade participating restaurants are in our neighborhood.

All three, standing enoteca La Piazza, seafood counter Il Pesce, and fine-dining restaurant Manzo are located in the heart of our local foodie heaven, Eataly, just a short walk up from Waterside. If you’d rather save all your energy for oyster-eating (recommended), New York Oyster Week has partnered with Uber this year to offer a FREE ride to or from Oyster Week using code OYSTERWEEK30. If you’re already riding with Uber, you can use promo code OYSTERWEEK10 to receive 10% off your ride. All three restaurants are offering original dishes for the festival.

This year, Oyster Week is working with the Billion Oyster Project, which will collect “100,000 oyster shells throughout the week” and redistribute them to the harbor to help return oysters into New York Harbor. As a riverfront community whose shores were once a prime oyster location, we are all about this–so go slurp in good conscience this week!
