One of the best New York City springtime experiences and may be of especial interest to Waterside’s vibrant international community, is the Sakura Matsuri Japanese cultural festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Held this weekend, April 25-26, 10AM – 6PM, the festival celebrates traditional and contemporary Japanese culture with events such as Taiko Drumming, Samurai Sword Fighting, Tea Ceremonies, Manga Drawing, and more–all under the beautiful blossoming cherry trees of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. It’s an especially great way to introduce kids to one aspect of the kaleidoscope of cultures that is New York City. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students 12+ with valid I.D.. and free for children under 12.
